More helmets sold in Canada have been recalled over impact hazards.
Additional models and remedies have been added to the initial recall notice for Polaris and 509 branded helmets issued in February.
The was published on July 3.
Impacted models include Tactical 2.0, Tactical 3.0, Altitude 2.0, Delta and Mach helmets. The helmets were sold in youth sizes small to large and adult sizes from extra small to 4X large.
The company reported that 26,822 of the recalled helmets were sold in Canada and 156,726 in the U.S. between January 2020 and May 1, 2025.Â
What’s wrong with the recall helmets?
The 509 Tactical 3.0 helmets and 509 for Polaris Tactical 3.0 helmets including the youth, mountain and trail helmets fail to comply with some marked certification standards, Health Canada explains.
This means they might not provide enough protection in the event of a crash, which poses a risk of head injury.
The small and medium size 509 Tactical 2.0 helmets, 509 Tactical 2.0 helmets with Fidlock, and 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 helmets, which were manufactured in 2023, may not provide adequate impact protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury.
Certain 509 and 509 for Polaris helmets with Fidlock, which were manufactured from 2020 to present with a stainless steel glide bar, the webbing on the chin strap may not be routed correctly.

Expanded recall notice issued for certain Polaris and 509 branded helmets due to impact hazard.
Health Canada photosHealth Canada says an incorrectly routed chin strap could allow a retention buckle separation and may not provide sufficient protection in the event of a crash, which poses an increased risk of head injury.
As of July 1, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the U.S., the company has received one report of the helmet detaching during a collision and one report of concussion.
What should you do?
Consumers are told to immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact 509 or Polaris for a replacement, refund, or repair — depending on the model of helmet.
