A famous Canadian actor has brought the oldest lager brand in the United Kingdom to Ontario.
Actors Rob Mac (previously known as Rob McElhenney) and Canadian Ryan Reynolds are co-owners of Wrexham Lager Beer Co. Ltd., founded in 1882.

Mac and Reynolds are co-owners of Wrexham AFC, the oldest professional soccer team in Wales and one of the oldest in the world.

The team has garnered an international following since Mac and Reynolds purchased the club in 2020, especially following the release of an FX docuseries, “Welcome to Wrexham.â€

Wrexham AFC had become a semi-amateur club before its Hollywood owners purchased it, according to . But Mac and Reynolds saw a goal of taking the club back to the upper echelons of English soccer.
The club was competing in England’s fifth-tier National League when its Hollywood owners purchased it. But following an injection of sponsorship cash, the club has enjoyed three promotions and will begin play in the English Football League Championship, the second tier of English soccer, for the 2025-26 season.
With one more promotion, the club will compete against Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Since the Hollywood co-owners took over Wrexham AFC, the town’s spirit and its lager have gone global.
Canadian beer drinkers can raise a glass and toast the town. The beer is currently available in B.C. and Ontario.
In Ontario, Wrexham Lager’s 500-ml single can is available at LCBO locations provincewide.
